Wrote this lyrics and melody based on a Buddhist teaching about Angulimala (Garland of fingers), a serial killer who turned into a Saint after his conversation with the Buddha. Thanks to Miwa who created the beautiful original music on piano. Angulimala On the day that he was born omens appeared in the sky He would become a ruthless killer killing innocent lives Brilliant in his studies, he attracted jealousy His guru wanted a 1000 little fingers for his fees. Was it due to a blind obedience for his teacher, or due to a dark obsession of his feelings He set off as a highway man and started robbing and killing Oh! Angulimala! Angulimala! To make up his final number, he wanted his mother’s finger But when he saw the Buddha, he wanted His instead. But no matter how hard he gave chase, the Buddha’s a distance away He shouted out the ascetic to stop as He calmly walked His pace Angulimāla, I have stopped forever. I have stopped causing harm to all living beings. But you, are merciless and practice no restraint!
